Debutants

A débutante (from the French débutante, "female beginner") is a young lady from an aristocratic or upper class family who has reached the age of maturity, and as a new adult, is introduced to society at a formal "début" presentation.

Originally, it meant the young woman was eligible to marry, and part of the purpose was to display her to eligible bachelors and their families with a view to marriage within a select upper class circle.

Think of it like a Victorian Meat Market! How cool would it be to be some young, nubile virgin dressed to the nines and have all those handsome young studs wanting to get up your skirt?

A cotillion or débutante ball in the United States is a formal presentation of young ladies, débutantes, to "polite society".

I can't help but wonder why wear the color white...
Was it to hide the cum stains when the deb got banged in the back alley between the main course and desert?

I wish that I could have attended such an event as a young debutant wearing one of these lovely gowns!
